About me
My background and experience
I have been lucky enough to work in an industry that I love. From the start of my career i have been drawn less to performance metrics and more to people. What motivates them, what holds them back, and what helps them grow. Throughout my 30 year career, there was a definite pattern, feedback and results that came from giving people a safe space for thoughtful conversation. From being curious, and feeling genuinely heard. My leadership style has been grounded in coaching, compassion, empathy and clarity. I believe deeply that everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their potential and that sometimes the right questions asked at the right moment, can lift everything. This business sat in my notebook for over 2 years, it was after reading Jay Shetty – Think Like A Monk that I decided to pursue my own potential. Now more than ever we live that moves quickly and grows louder everyday. So much I formation everywhere but nowhere or time to process it. We have transactional conversations. Messages are shorter. Attention divided. What is still the same is our need for connection. The Vent Garden was created to restore that simple, powerful human act. It is built on the belief that emotional wellbeing begins with being able to talk and be heard. Not analysed. Not judged. Not assessed. Just real listening. My work sits at the intersection of workplace wellbeing, leadership support and emotional resilience. It is a reminder that human connection cannot be replaced by screens, devices or endless scrolling. That productivity and performance are deeply connected to how people feel. Its how we remember that we are never navigating life alone.
What I enjoy most about my work
It’s the connection and trust that I build with individual I work with. When someone chooses to speak openly about uncertainty, leadership pressure, financial worry or personal identity or relationship concerns that trust is a privilege. Its the surprise in their voice at the end of the session where they take a moment to breathe and realise just how much emotion they have been carrying. It simple but that’s what makes it so meaningful and it feels like that’s what the world needs more of.
Who I am beyond my work
Im still very connected to the the health and wellbeing environment and you can find me at F45 most early morning. Its my safe space where I get to connect to a wonderful community. After spending time there my friends and family are a priority spending as much time with my son in particular is precious.
About my business
What my business does
The Vent Garden provides confidential non-clinical listening support to small businesses (5-100 employees) navigating change, uncertainty and performance pressure.
I help leaders and their teams who appear to be functioning on the outside but internally experiencing stress, disengagement, decision fatigue and emotional overload. Issues that have a real impact on the business.
Poor workplace wellbeing is estimated to cost UK employers £51billion a year through absenteeism, presenteeism and turnover, while every £1 invested in wellbeing services returns on average £4.70 in increased productivity, lower absence and stronger retention (Deliotte research 2024)
The Vent Garden fills the gap between traditional support (EAP, coaching, & HR intervention) and crisis level wellbeing needs.
Through thoughtful intentional trusted conversation individuals gain space to process pressure, gain clarity and build emotional resilience which supports productivity, loyalty and retention. We can also integrate financial wellbeing education and physical wellness partnerships so wellbeing is approached as a complete offering
In an environment where silence and disengagement quietly arodes performance, intentional listening becomes a preventative, human centred solution that’s supports business growth and performance stability.
What sets my business apart
What makes The Vent Garden different is that it does not try to solve people. In high pressure environments, employees are often offered solutions before they’ve had chance to speak. Given advice before being understood. Strategy planned before a chance for reflection. I take a different approach.
The Vent Garden offers confidential listening that is calm, individually focused and professionally held. There is no agenda from me. No behaviour frameworks to follow. Listening to their full story not just their work story.
Providing this neutral space is intentional.
It creates a rare environment where leaders and teams can process uncertainty, frustration or fatigue without feeling evaluated.
The service sits outside performance management, outside HR and outside clinical models. This independence builds trust and trust is what allows people to speak honestly.
The Vent Garden is a preventative wellbeing partnership designed to protect people before silence becomes disengagement, absence or exit.
This is not a soft benefit. It is responsible leadership in action.
The problem my business solves
Many of the challenges that small business face today don’t begin with strategy.
They begin with silence. Employees navigating pressure, restructuring, financial uncertainty or sustained high performance expectations. Whilst they continue to function on the outside, on the inside they feel overwhelmed, unheard or emotionally fatigued. That quiet shows up in indecision, disengagement, conflict, rising absence and ultimately turnover. The Vent Garden addresses this hidden layer. By providing a confidential , non-clinical space to talk, without judgement or agenda. I help individuals release pressure, regain clarity and stabilise their thinking. Its a simple intervention but a powerful one. When people feel heard they think more clearly, act more decisively and re-engage with purpose. In an environment where emotional strain quietly errodes culture and performance, intentional conversation becomes transformative.
